Honeycomb Veneered Oak American Style Casket
Honeycomb caskets are the ultimate cardboard coffin for green funerals, eco funerals and environmentally-friendly cremations.
Creme crepe interior and domed split lid. Natural oak colour with a satin finish. This casket features short bar handles that are interchangeable with long bars (as shown below).
Suitable for both burial and cremation.
Honeycomb coffins are an environmentally-friendly alternative to chipboard or MDF-based coffins. Each coffin or casket is comprised of over 96% recycled paper. All glues and lacquers are water-based non-toxic and do not damage the environment.
Construction and Craftsmenship
Each panel is made from 3cm of honeycomb cardboard inset with panels to which the handles are fastened. Each panel is then veneered by hand in the traditional way. This unique and innovative method of construction ensures that while the internal composition is very strong, lightweight, practical and environmentally-friendly, the external appearance retains its traditional dignified characteristics.
Strength and weight testing
In May2007 a coffin was independently tested by Lloyds British Testing Ltd (test reports 152287.001, 152287.002 and 152287.003. In summary: supported by only two trestles 1485mm apart, the coffin without the lid held 25 stones (159kg) for four days. The weight was then increased to 30 stones (191kg) for a further four days.

Just a big thankyou for all your help which gave me the confidence to shop around for the right funeral director in Southampton. The coffin I bought from you was excellent and looked beautiful on the day.
I could not believe the difference in charges & attitudes of funeral directors - the one we settled on were a small family firm and were a massive £1200 pounds cheaper than the others we contacted.
Thank you once again for your support - thanks to you we were able to give Hazel (my sister) the send off she would have wanted.
Wishing you all the very best,
Isobel Bartlett, (Solihul, West Midlands):
“I am writing to let you know how grateful I am for your assistance with my father's recent funeral. The quality of the coffin exceeded our expectations, and your company's service was excellent. Most of all, thank you so much for the invaluable advice you gave me regarding arranging funerals - you inspired me to arrange a very personal funeral at a reasonable cost, which was exactly what Dad would have wanted.
It was largely thanks to The Coffin Company that I didn't get sucked into making it more solemn and traditional (and expensive!) by the funeral directors. I really admire what you are doing within the funeral industry, and I wish you and your companies much success in the future.
Many thanks again from myself and my family.
Keith Seymour (Warrington, Cheshire):
"At what was a very difficult time, the service and advice provided by the Coffin Company was second to none. Not only was the coffin you supplied of excellent quality and value, but you 'debunked' much of the formality and overpricing of the funeral industry. You provided the encouragement to personalise my late father's funeral to reflect his true character. I can't recommend your service and products enough. Sincere thanks. Keith"
